Thangam Thennarasu, Former Finance Minister has expressed concern over the continuous rise in retail inflation in Tamil Nadu. He further criticized the fact that retail inflation rose from 5.92% in August to 6.81% in September, describing it as an indicator of the states economic decline and a reflection of the governments lethargic approach toward controlling the rise in prices.
