Karnataka had been delaying the release of the Cauvery water due to Tamil Nadu. However, with Karnatakas dams reaching full capacity, water has been released as there was no other option. Consequently, the inflow of water into the Mettur Dam has increased. Reports indicate that the dam may be opened soon and that Chief Minister Vijay will participate in the event.
