Reports indicate that the Central Government plans to hand over the operation and maintenance of the rocket launch pad currently being established by ISRO at Kulasekarapattinam to the private sector. Private companies have been invited to fully manage this launch pad—being built at a cost of ₹986 crore—and to carry out rocket launch operations.
